Oven Temperature Converter

Convert any baking temperature between Fahrenheit, Celsius and gas marks. Our recipes list both °F and °C; use this when a recipe from elsewhere gives only one.

Quick reference chart

°F°C (usual setting)Gas mark
225 °F110 °C1/4
250 °F120 °C1/2
275 °F140 °C1
300 °F150 °C2
325 °F160 °C3
350 °F180 °C4
375 °F190 °C5
400 °F200 °C6
425 °F220 °C7
450 °F230 °C8
475 °F240 °C9

Celsius values are rounded to the settings most ovens use. The exact conversion is °C = (°F − 32) × 5 ÷ 9.

Convection (fan) ovens

Circulating air browns faster, so a common guideline is to lower the temperature by about 25 °F (about 15 °C) or to check for doneness earlier. Some ovens make this adjustment automatically, so check your oven’s manual first.

Oven accuracy

Home ovens often run hotter or cooler than the dial shows. An inexpensive oven thermometer placed in the center of the oven tells you the real temperature.
